America's Overwatch

About America's Overwatch

Built by a pilot who knows that in critical situations, accurate information isn't optional—it's survival.

What We Are

America's Overwatch is a journalism platform built for people with actual lives.

You have a job. You have a family. You have responsibilities that matter more than arguing on the internet. But you also know something is deeply wrong with the information environment— and you don't have three hours a night to research every claim that crosses your feed.

Meanwhile, paid activists and professional agitators can flood social media around the clock. They have time to craft narratives and dominate conversations. The working parent coaching Little League can't compete with that. The math doesn't work.

America's Overwatch levels the playing field. We deliver well-researched articles, rapid responses to viral misinformation, and in-depth analysis—all held to rigorous verification standards. Seven minutes with our Daily Brief at 7 AM, and you're equipped for whatever conversations come your way.

We call it situational awareness for citizens—the same concept pilots use to maintain complete awareness of everything affecting their flight. You can't navigate safely if you don't know what's out there.

Why This Exists

America's Overwatch was founded by Jeff Broomall—not because he had all the answers, but because he was tired of not having any.

In aviation, there's a critical distinction between currency and proficiency. You can be current—meeting the minimum FAA requirements to legally fly—without being proficient enough to handle what the flight throws at you. The regulations keep you legal. Proficiency keeps you alive.

Jeff realized he'd become "current" on the news but not proficient. He scrolled past posts he knew were wrong but couldn't articulate why. He'd hear claims at family gatherings or see slander online and think, "That's not right"—but couldn't back it up with sources on the spot. He saw the headlines. He just couldn't engage.

This platform is what Jeff wanted for himself: a way to stay proficient, not just current. If it helps other Americans trying to do their jobs, live their lives, and actually engage with all the noise out there—that's the point.

The Founder

Jeff Broomall

Jeff is a professional pilot with over 12,000 flight hours across both Part 121 airline and Part 135 charter operations. In aviation, you verify everything. You cross-check your sources. You don't assume—because assumptions get people killed. That mindset shaped how America's Overwatch operates.

Before flying, Jeff worked as an analyst supporting FAA weather systems development and helped build the first website for a major aviation organization in the 1990s. But more than credentials, what drives this project is the same frustration millions of Americans feel: too much noise, not enough signal, and no time to sort it all out.

Jeff doesn't claim to have all the intellectual horsepower to see this through alone. That's why America's Overwatch is built on bringing together people who do—students eager to learn, experts willing to contribute, and editors who hold everyone to standard.

Our Team

Student Writers

At our core, we're a training ground for the next generation. We recruit qualified college students from any career track—not just journalism majors. Future teachers, lawyers, engineers, business leaders, medical professionals. These are the same people who will be raising families and engaging in their communities for decades to come.

They research, write, and learn verification standards under experienced editors. More importantly, they become equipped to push back when misinformation spreads in their own classrooms and social circles. They're not just learning to write—they're learning to think critically and engage confidently.

Community Contributors

We also bring in vetted contributors from the broader community: subject matter experts, veterans, professionals, parents—citizens with valuable perspectives and knowledge to share. Everyone goes through our vetting process and adheres to our editorial standards.

Rapid Response Team

When viral misinformation needs immediate attention, our Rapid Response team deploys. Drawn from our best contributors—students and community members alike—this team publishes initial counters within hours, not days. We don't let lies circulate unchallenged while we perfect our prose.

How We're Different

We Equip, Not Just Inform

Most outlets tell you what happened. We give you the facts, context, and sources you need to engage in the conversation yourself. Our goal is a citizen who can hold their own, not a passive news consumer.

We Invest in the Next Generation

We're building a pipeline of critical thinkers across every profession—people who know how to verify claims, find primary sources, and engage in discourse without just repeating talking points.

We Respond Fast

Misinformation doesn't wait for editorial committees. Our Rapid Response team engages quickly, then follows up with comprehensive analysis. Speed and depth.

We Show Our Work

Every claim we make is sourced. Every source is linked. You can verify everything we publish. Transparency isn't a buzzword—it's how we operate.

Company Structure

America's Overwatch, Inc. operates as a social enterprise—mission over profit. We're funded by our members, not advertisers or political donors. Our editorial decisions answer to readers who value truth, not sponsors who want spin.

We're based in Bloomington, Indiana—close to Indiana University and its talent pool, but rooted in Middle America rather than coastal media centers.

Our Values

We believe in the Constitution. We believe in individual liberty. We believe informed citizens are the foundation of a functioning republic. We believe facts matter and that Americans deserve access to them without partisan filter.

We're not neutral on those principles. But we are committed to accuracy. We don't make things up, we don't twist facts to fit narratives, and when we're wrong, we correct it publicly. Our credibility is everything.
