Getting Started

How do I sign up for America's Overwatch?

Click "Start Free" in the header to create your account. You'll get immediate access to our Free tier (3 daily fact-checks). You can upgrade anytime to get the full daily brief.

What comes in the daily brief?

Every morning at 6 AM Eastern, we send you 10-12 fact-checks on the most significant claims from the previous day. Each includes the claim, our rating (TRUE/FALSE/MISLEADING), evidence from multiple sources, and full context. Designed to be read in 5 minutes or less.

How is this different from other fact-checkers?

We're a social enterprise, not a profit-driven media company. No clickbait, no sensationalism, no political agenda. We fact-check all sides equally and show our complete methodology. Plus, we're training the next generation of journalists—investing in the future of truthful reporting.

Can I share your fact-checks?

Yes! We encourage sharing. Each fact-check has a unique URL you can share on social media or via email. Please link to our original content rather than copying it—this helps us reach more people. See our Content Usage Guidelines for details.

What's the Glossary for?

Our Glossary defines terms frequently used in political discourse, media, and fact-checking. Each entry includes the baseline definition, staff commentary, and a change history showing how definitions evolve. It's designed to combat the weaponization of language and establish common ground.

How do I submit a tip for fact-checking?

Go to our Contact page and select "Tip Submission." Include the claim, source link, and any relevant context or evidence. Our editorial team reviews all submissions, though we can't fact-check everything or respond to every tip individually.

Understanding Fact-Checks

What does "MISLEADING" mean?

MISLEADING means the claim contains factual elements but omits critical context, cherry-picks data, or presents information in a way that could deceive. It's technically accurate but practically dishonest. See our Editorial Standards for full details.

Why do you fact-check opinions?

We don't fact-check pure opinions ("I think taxes are too high"). We fact-check factual claims embedded in political discourse, even if labeled as "opinion." If someone says "My opinion is that unemployment has tripled" and it hasn't, that's a false factual claim, not a protected opinion.

How do you choose what to fact-check?

We prioritize claims that: (1) have wide reach or viral spread, (2) could influence public understanding of important issues, (3) come from influential figures or major media outlets, and (4) are checkable with available evidence. We fact-check all political perspectives equally.

What if I think you got something wrong?

Contact us immediately at our contact page. Provide specific evidence and explain your concern. We take corrections seriously and will investigate promptly. If we made an error, we'll issue a correction and update the fact-check with full transparency.
